Alparslan Türkeş Science and Technology University
Adana Alparslan Türkeş Science and Technology University (Adana ATSTU) is a relatively young higher education institution established in 2011 in Adana located in the south of Turkey and is the pivotal city incorporating industrial and agricultural activities in the region. The university consists of 8 faculties, the school of foreign languages, institute of social sciences, institute of natural & applied sciences, 1 continuing education center supporting lifelong learning and a Turkish Language Education Center that helps its international students gain an insight into Turkish language and culture during their study period. Adana ATSTU has around 3000 undergraduate and 1000 graduate students and 100 doctorate students.
Adana ATSTU has the vision of internationalization which has two main aspects. First, providing international experiences for students via different exchange programs, bilateral agreements, youth programs and other international funds thus contributing to the development of their cultural intelligences and instilling the awareness of being a global citizen. Second, making the university a desirable international institution for foreign students from different regions of the world by creating a culture of education, research and implementation based on universal values.
Although Adana ATSTU is relatively a new university, it is experienced in the Erasmus+ Program. The university received the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) in 2015 and has been sending students via Erasmus mobility since then. Adana ATSTU is also accredited as sending and coordinating organization under the EVS program of Erasmus+. The university has been a partner organization for two different KA2 Strategic Partnership projects and a KA1 Mobility of Youth Workers project so far and has been receiving Erasmus Mobility budgets every year for the mobility of its students and staff.
Adana ATSTU School of Foreign Languages will be responsible department on behalf of the university and it has been organizing different workshops for the professional development of its students and academic staff. The thematic workshops included subjects such as drama workshops for language education, media literacy workshops, conflict management, communication, intercultural competences..etc.
Adana ATSTU School of Foreign Languages is currently a partner organization for the project “Adult self-learning: supporting learning autonomy in a technology-mediated environment” which is funded by the Erasmus+ KA2 Strategic Partnerships in adult education project with the project number of 2019-1-TR01-KA204-076875. The project aims to extend the learning opportunities for individual low-skilled or low-qualified adults. Project will develop innovative digital social education practices through the realization of an intelligent and proactive learning environment that analyze the learners’ activities. The concrete aims of the project are: to teach learners to acquire new skills and competences using learning innovative practices and digital technologies; to develop a functioning collaborative learning environment to help them identify skills gaps and needs and to collaborate locally and independently for joint capacity-building.
Adana ATSTU School of Foreign Languages has also been accredited by the Pearson Assured Certification program which is an independent benchmark for third-party organizations that have training or learning programs they have designed to deliver and assess in-house.
